Hannah & James got engaged in Deia, Mallorca which makes this part of the island a very special place for them – close to their hearts! Working together with Events by L, they knew that their dream of a wedding in this part of the island would become a beautiful reality. The bride and her gorgeous bridal party got ready in a beautiful suite at Belmond La Residencia. The suite had views of the tall & rocky mountains to the one side, the crystal clear pool below and the quaint hillside of Deia to the other side. The beautiful gardens of the hotel grounds were in full blossom with bougainvillea and the ominous weeping willows adding to the magic of the day. The talented Jennifer Jane Hair & Make-up did a beautiful job as always and both H&MU held elegantly for the entire hot and sweaty day. Once ready we were driven to the church that sits atop the hill Sant Joan Bautista Iglesia. Some are familiar with these breathtaking views from the recent movie Cloud Atlas which was largely filmed in this area.
Hannah’s wedding dress by Jenny Packham was really special as it was one of the few wedding dresses that I had seen this year that was truly comfortable to wear in the heat of the Spanish summer sun – light and flowy. If I got married in the summer, I’d opt for something as elegant yet comfortable as this to keep cool through every event and weather change of the day. Hannah started off in a sleek pair of Jimmy Choo shoes and later changed to sandals for our walk through the town from the church at the top of the hill down to the hotel. The bridesmaids were outfitted in gorgeous and also flowy dresses by Maids to Measure in light pastel colours that complimented!
After the ceremony the guests walked through the town first to La Residencia to have drinks to the upbeat happy rhythms of British guitarist and singer Holly Kotzé – so much talent in one person! Holly’s light and playful beats really hold the space and provide a gorgeous ambient background. Following the aperitivo and with the sunset, the guests moved into one of the various restaurants on the hotel grounds – El Olivo. The backdrop behind the main table is definitely a highlight of holding a wedding at La Res. Uber talented Joanna Walton stepped up the scenery a notch with gorgeous floral arrangements and decor details. Speeches were followed by delicious courses and topped off with music from Daniyella and her band that rocked into the early hours. What a gorgeous day full of so much love and laughter amongst friends and family!
